Marten Machining realizes that while being able
to manufacture parts to a high degree of accuracy is important,
being able to verify that accuracy is equally as important. In response
the call for tighter part manufacturing tolerances and the ability
to verify machining processes with certified traceability Marten
Machining purchased a PMM-C P 12.10.7 in 2007. The Leitz PMM coordinate
measuring machine is one of the most accurate CMMs produced and
is certified according to ISO 10 360-2 to have a volumetric length
measuring error of 0.6 + L / 600 [µm].
The machine is housed in a fully insulated room
that is built inside the structure of the second addition to the
facility.
The lab is fully temperature and humidity controlled
with a Leibert cooling system. Temp and humidity levels are recorded
and verified with 4 Veriteq sensors certified to be accurate within
+/- .12 degrees C.
The Leitz PMM is coupled with powerful PC-DMIS
CAD++ software provided by Hexagon Metrology to facilitate inspection
directly from CAD models and Marten Machinings inspection staff
has been trained in Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing from
the International Institute of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
(www.iigdt.com). The department is also lead by a certified ASME
GD&T Professional.
To do GD&T analysis that conforms to the
ASME Y14.5 standard Marten Machining uses Smart Profile software
provided by Kotem Technologies. |
